With its unique location, half of the temple is located in Khao Phra Viharn National Park in Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, Thailand, and the other half is located in Preah Vihear Province, Cambodia. From Thailand, visitors who want to visit Preah Vihear Temple can go through the border of Si Sa Ket Province towards Chong Sa Ngam Border Gate, located about 4-5 km from the temple.
