Day 2: Angkor Highlight

Enjoy breakfast at hotel. We drive to Angkor Thom that was the masterpiece of King Jayavarman VII. Following the occupation of Angkor by the Chams from 1177 to 1181, the new king decided to build an impregnable fortress at the heart of his empire.

We begin to visit Bayon Temple. At the exact center of Angkor Thom, this is an eccentric expression of the creative genius and inflated ego of Cambodia’s most celebrated king.

We continue to visit Ta Prohm “Tomb Raider” fame. Ta Prohm has been abandoned to the elements, a reminder that while empires rise and fall, the riotous power of nature marches on, oblivious to the dramas of human history.

We journey out to the mother of all temples, Angkor Wat. Believed to be the world’s largest religious building, this temple is the perfect fusion of symbolism and symmetry and a source of pride and strength to all Khmers.

RELAXING SUNSET GONDOLA RIDE: included 01bottle of local beer

Late this afternoon travel to the South Gate of Angkor Thom where you embark on a private charming Khmer traditional gondola for your romantic sunset cruise experience. The sunset trip proved a soothing time of day for a boat journey, as well as a relaxing break from the tourists who roam the temples in masse. The tranquility of the evening air was shattered by the sounds of cicadas in the trees, which collectively made a rather deafening noise. Meaning the chirping of birds, dragonflies flying alongside and a beautiful sunset over paddy fields.

Tonight, you will have a romantic dinner under candlelight.

Day 3: Life on Tonle Sap Lake & Monk blessing

After meeting, we depart to Tonle Sap Lake. We will visit the floating village of Kampong Phluk, which means “Port of Tusks”, located 20 km east of Siem Reap. It is a village built on stilts on the Tonlé Sap. The community largely depends on fishing for a living, spending Cambodia’s rainy season (June-October) fishing. During the dry season (November-April), when the waters of the lake go down, many of them work in agriculture to supplement their income. The excursion will take you to explore the floating village and allow you to see how people live and trade.

You will go to local pagoda, where you should change to clothes you can get wet in as here you will experience the ceremony “SrouchTeok”, which roughly translates into “Water blessing”. A monk will chant in ancient Pali as he splashes water over you, washing away your sins and bad luck so you can start fresh and by being a good person can increase your good luck.

This evening we will enjoy 2 hours Spa – combine healing effects of an aromatherapy massage with application of heated herbal compress. This treatment purifies, relaxes, warms, relieves aches and pains and improves blood circulation whilst stimulating the senses.
